After a 23 year petit mal epilepsy, GamesMaster will be returning to our screens. The pioneering evince was peerless of the first to bring games and gaming culture to a mainstream Viewers and, while of its time in certain respects, was never quite an replaced by what followed. Twitch is fine and all, but you haven't lived until you've seen a fully grown mankin spit the dope after falling disconnected Mario 64's Cool, Cool Piles slither.

The series returns in what Channel 4 insists on career "a gregarious-starting time" frame, with episodes appearing first connected E4's Youtube before dissemination on the regular E4 canalize. The show will be co-produced by Future's Barcroft TV (disclosure: Personal computer Gamer is owned aside Future) and Alaska TV.

"The serial volition see celebrities, gaming stars and super fans all take part in challenges, races and big fights. Through virtual battles across a range of games, the competitors will try everything in their power to exact a legendary Golden Joystick Prize. But whilst they play, they'll be watched over by the completely-informed GamesMaster, famously depicted in the original by Sir Patrick Marianne Moore."

Sir Patrick Moore was inextricable from the she's original run: a monocled stargazer with a very posh part and eerie diction, this seemingly odd able was at the heart of GamesMaster's slightly surreal atmosphere. Sadly Sir Patrick died in 2012, and the annunciation makes no more mention of who the new GamesMaster will be: though it does observe that Simon Amstell, a comic and British Television receiver personality, was on the show when younger.

John Farrar, executive director producer at Barcroft, says "I grew up observance GamesMaster and feel a real sense of pride and duty in delivery this ground break brand back to life [...] Although the games have changed, the energy, mayhem and punk intent of the original show will follow unmistakably the same."

Elsewhere, the press release makes the freakish claim that "games now looking at better than movies" before exit on to use phrases like "fully cross platform branded deal" which I will (mostly) spare you. GamesMaster is about watching kids play games against each other and having a laugh when it all goes wrong, and hopefully this gets at least that part of it right. The release makes atomic number 102 mention of the show's original talent beyond Sir Saint Patrick Moore, spell former presenter Dominik Diamond (what a name!) now lives up a mountain in Alberta wrestling bears.

The late GamesMaster will first later this year along E4's Youtube.
